Marilyn Ann Holman
Marilyn Ann Holman was born in Winter Park, FL, the daughter of Richard, Jr. and Carolyn Wines of Mount Airy. She graduated from Linganore High School in 1991, along with her future husband, and they both graduated from Roanoke College in 1995. Marilyn worked as an elementary art teacher in Frederick County for over 10 years in addition to staying home to raise her children, teaching kindergarten through 5th grade at Ballenger Creek, Lincoln, Spring Ridge, Centreville, and Green Valley Elementary Schools. She also taught Sunday School, most recently at Damascus Road Community Church, of which she was a member. Marilyn also helped establish the IASLC Cancer Care Award, a global award that recognizes outstanding patient care and aims to honor multidisciplinary teams working together to provide the highest quality cancer care.
Marilyn passed away on June 22, 2018, at Kline Hospice House after a nearly two-year battle with lung cancer. She is the wife of Matthew R. Holman, with whom she celebrated 22 years of marriage.
She has four amazing children: Noah, Elijah, Isabella, and Gabriel. Although she created 300 pieces of art, her children are her greatest creation. They have her creative spirit and talents. Marilyn lives on through her children.
